Amid the sun-drenched landscapes of Salento, in the countryside of San Pancrazio Salentino, lie the 35 hectares of the Antica Iore Estate. Here, viticulture is deeply rooted in history and rural culture, where Negroamaro—the emblematic grape of this land—finds an ideal habitat thanks to sandy and limestone soils and the constant breath of sea breezes. It is a place where tradition becomes precision and passion, giving rise to wines that express the truest identity of Salento.

Vineyards and grape varieties

The Antica Iore Estate is entirely dedicated to Negroamaro, cultivated on soils with a strong viticultural vocation: a sandy top layer that promotes drainage and warmth, and a subsoil of clay and limestone that provides nourishment and stability to the roots. Within this estate lies the Caragnuli parcel, where the grapes destined for the renowned Graticciaia are grown, and where the Vereto Salice Salentino DOC Riserva is also produced—a distinctive wine capable of combining elegance, power, and long persistence.

Winemaking philosophy

The winemaking philosophy of Antica Iore is guided by the desire to express the personality of Negroamaro at its best, without compromise. Vineyard work is careful and manual: targeted pruning, meticulous cluster selection, and harvesting at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, modern winemaking techniques accompany traditional know-how. Controlled fermentations and slow ageing allow aromatic complexity and structure to develop, while preserving the grape variety’s identity and its deep connection to the Salento territory.
