In the heart of Salento, overlooking the Ionian Sea and set within a landscape of olive groves and dry-stone walls, the Lizzano Estate preserves the winemaking history of an ancient and generous land. Here, clay-limestone soils and proximity to the sea create a unique microclimate: hot summers and constant breezes that protect the grapes, yielding fruit of great aromatic intensity and natural freshness.
It is a place where Apulian agricultural culture engages in dialogue with modern, respectful viticulture, keeping alive a deep-rooted connection to local tradition.

Vineyards and grape varieties

The vineyards of the Lizzano Estate are rooted in red, sandy soils capable of retaining moisture and heat in a balanced way. Negroamaro dominates this landscape, finding here its most typical and nuanced expression; alongside it grow Primitivo, Malvasia Nera, Fiano, and small parcels of international varieties such as Chardonnay and Syrah. These are cultivated using training systems that respect Salento tradition, such as the alberello, combined with modern agronomic approaches to ensure balance and quality.

Winemaking philosophy

The winemaking philosophy of the Lizzano Estate is rooted in respect for the land and in the desire to express Salento’s identity at its best. Vineyard work is meticulous: selective pruning, controlled yields, and hand harvesting during the cooler hours to preserve integrity and aromas. In the cellar, cutting-edge winemaking technologies and rigorous controls accompany every stage, without ever betraying the wine’s artisanal nature. The result is a range of wines with a bold yet balanced character, capable of uniting history, territory, and modernity in a single sip.
