In the heart of Lazio, along the ancient Via Tuscolana, lies the Barcaccia Estate—a place that preserves the historical memory of Rome and its connections with the Tuscolan Hills. Surrounded by the landscapes of the Aqueducts Park, where the arches of the Aqua Claudia and Aqua Marcia shape the skyline and bear witness to centuries of human ingenuity, the estate is immersed in a truly unique setting: millennia of history, lush nature, and fertile soils that have long welcomed the vine.
Here, past and present meet, creating a perfect balance between agricultural heritage and modern Lazio viticulture.

Vineyards and grape varieties

The vineyards of the Barcaccia Estate are rooted in volcanic, mineral-rich soils that lend the wines complexity and a pronounced savoury character. Native Lazio grape varieties are cultivated alongside selected international varieties, which here find balance and freshness thanks to the temperate microclimate of the Roman countryside and the day–night temperature shifts.
Sunny exposures and constant ventilation encourage even ripening, giving the wines elegance, structure, and clean, expressive aromas, while the long-standing tradition of these lands continues to inspire new interpretations of the local viticultural heritage.

Winemaking philosophy

At the Barcaccia Estate, production is guided by deep respect for history and the Roman landscape. Vineyard work prioritizes sustainable methods: targeted pruning, controlled yields, and hand harvesting to ensure only the finest grapes. In the cellar, technology supports tradition. Temperature-controlled fermentations and carefully calibrated ageing preserve the purity of the fruit and the natural imprint of the volcanic terroir. Each bottle thus becomes a bridge between the past of these countryside lands—traveled for centuries by pilgrims and merchants—and the present of a thoughtful, innovative approach to viticulture.
